Overview

We hope our Hidden Gems Tours and Experiences are accessible for as many people as possible, regardless of age, physical limitations or disabilities. Hidden Gems Tours utilise smartphone and tablet GPS technology, and are set in both urban and rural destinations. Covering a range of geographic areas, they are designed as walking, cycling or driving routes. The user guides themselves between highlighted locations (in app map references) using their own means of transportation. When arriving at locations, the user experiences a series of clues and challenges. The majority of Hidden Gems Tours are designed to be:


  • Suitable for all ages and almost all abilities.*
  • Enjoyed at leisure. Not a race.
  • Enjoyed at any time of the day (in daylight hours) and all year round.
  • Enjoyed in the great outdoors, utilising a Smartphones or Tablet App as our guide and experience interface.**


Beforehand
  • Details of all Hidden Gems Tours are available on our website. More details regarding exact challenges and rules appear to you via the app on the day
  • Hidden Gems Tours are pre-purchased prior to your travel date. Your ticket will display login instructions and your unique access code
  • Hidden Gems Tours require the use of the Loquiz App, downloaded to your device in advance
  • When your login with your access code, your pass is activated (purchased access time begins)


On the Day
  • A recommended start location may be given. However, you can begin anywhere you wish in the geographic area,
  • Suggested parking may be visible on map, and also discoverable an alternative app,
  • We encourage the use of public transport where possible,
  • Car parking charges are payable when parking in public car parks.
  • You are not required to enter any private property or pay entrance fees in order to complete all challenges,
  • At least 70% of challenges are set on well-maintained paths, pavements and roads.
  • Access to some sites can be via public foot paths or uneven country tracks. These can become muddy in wet weather and may be unsuitable for wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
  • Ferry fares are payable on some Hidden Gems Tours.
  • There are usually public toilet facilities along the route of each Hidden Gems Tour.
  • There are usually facilities to obtain refreshments along the route of each Hidden Gems Tour. 


Additional information

* Hidden Gems Tours may be unsuitable for the visually impaired as solving clues etc involve looking for information obtained from plaques, memorials, inscriptions, information boards and other permanent features within the existing landscape.


* Hidden Gems Tours are designed to be as wheelchair and pushchair friendly as possible (ensuring at least 70% of clues/locations are accessible to all. However, this is not always possible, due to the physical landscape and weather conditions.


** Phones/tablets must meet apple/and compatibility and minimum software requirements
